Remote IT Principal Software Engineer

Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Principal Software Engineer, you will create and enhance complex applications, identifying opportunities and implementing solutions that meet end-user needs and business goals.
Every day, you will work on multiple high-complexity solutions, troubleshooting and resolving intricate software problems. You will provide technical guidance to engineering teams, oversee project contributions, serve as a subject matter expert, and mentor software engineers.
To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional software design and coding expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and proven leadership in technically guiding and mentoring teams. Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts and a commitment to innovation are essential.
- Provide technical guidance in software design and development activities.
- Assist with maintenance and upgrades of existing software applications.
- Participate in design reviews and recommend improvements.
- Provide support throughout all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and ensure delivery of high-quality products.
- Provide training and mentorship to other engineers as needed.
- Analyze and troubleshoot application issues in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
Required
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent software development experience.
- 7+ years of job-related experience and 8+ years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer.
- Experience serving as an Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) engineer.
- 4+ years of experience completing technical implementations, data architecture, and system integrations to power real-time customer journeys.
- Experience creating and managing XDM (Experience Data Model) schemas for profiles and experience events.
- Experience setting up identity namespaces and rules to connect customer data across devices, including email, cookies, and mobile IDs, into a unified Real-Time Customer Profile.
- Experience building and monitoring both batch (CSV/database) and streaming (real-time API) data ingestion pipelines to ensure data accuracy and quality.
- Experience implementing the Adobe Experience Platform Web SDK and Mobile SDK for iOS and Android to capture user behavior and trigger in-app or push notifications.
- Experience configuring events and triggers that move customers through journeys based on real-time signals, such as abandoned carts or location-based check-ins.
- Experience developing REST API endpoints that Adobe Journey Optimizer can call to send data to third-party systems such as Slack, loyalty platforms, or external SMS providers.
- Experience managing development, staging, and production sandboxes and user permissions.
- Experience setting up email subdomains, IP warming strategies, and mobile push credentials.
- Experience applying labels and policies to support CCPA compliance.
- Experience using Adobe Experience Platform Assurance to inspect SDK events and troubleshoot failed journey triggers.
- Experience writing SQL queries in AEP Query Service to analyze journey bottlenecks, error rates, and delivery success.
- Experience implementing frequency capping to prevent over-messaging customers and protect downstream system performance.
Preferred
- Master's degree.
