The Role
We're looking for a part-time SEO/AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) Specialist to own organic discoverability for Faith Online’s website to convert more browsers to app users. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role covering technical SEO, on-page/content optimization, and structuring content so it's surfaced and cited by AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
What You'll Do
- Liaise with Chief of Staff and CMO to ensure optimization of keywords keeps core brand and messaging on track (i.e articles and content should not be overly optimized but balanced between authenticity and search)
- Conduct keyword and query research across Google and AI answer engines for faith, discipleship, and Christian community topics.
- Audit and optimize on-page SEO: titles, meta descriptions, headers, internal linking, and content structure.
- Structure content for AEO: Q&A formatting, schema markup (FAQ, Article, Organization), and concise, citable answers.
- Monitor technical SEO health: site speed, crawlability, indexation, mobile usability, Core Web Vitals; flag issues to the dev team.
- Implement structured data (JSON-LD) to improve rich results and AI-answer eligibility.
- Track rankings, organic traffic, and AI-referral visibility (Search Console, GA4, AEO/LLM visibility tools); report monthly.
- Brief content creators on SEO/AEO best practices before articles and landing pages publish.
- Stay current on search and AI-answer algorithm changes and recommend strategy adjustments.
- Support our website migration off Wix onto a new platform, ensuring SEO/AEO equity is preserved (redirects, metadata, schema, URL structure) through the transition.
- Occasionally liaise with the team on App Store ASO, ensuring messaging consistency with organic SEO/AEO strategy.
What You Bring
- 3-5 + years of hands-on SEO experience, ideally with recent, proven AEO/GEO exposure
- Working knowledge of Google Search Console, GA4, and a keyword/rank tool (SEMrush, or similar).
- Comfort with schema markup/structured data (JSON-LD) and basic technical SEO audits (AI enabled or otherwise).
- Strong writing and editing instincts that honor our brand and the christian community
- Self-directed, comfortable owning a workstream independently driven
- Genuine alignment with FaithOnline's Christian mission and values.
- Comfortable navigating a website platform migration (e.g., moving off Wix to a new CMS/site builder) without losing SEO rankings — redirect mapping, re-implementing schema, and post-launch monitoring.
- Nice to have: hands-on Wix experience and/or prior site-migration SEO work.
Hours, Compensation & Logistics
- 5 hours/week, flexible scheduling; submit weekly progress/goals
- Independent contractor; rate commensurate with experience
- Fully remote
